Sediment filtration

Cartridge filters for the removal of sediment operate by providing a matrix to trap the suspended media. They are classified by micron rating which is the size of particle that can pass through the matrix. The lower micron rated filters will provide finer filtration.

There are two industry standard filter diameters which we specify as standard (about 2.5" diam.) and LD/large diameter (about 4.25" diam.). LD/large diameter is also known as BB/Big Blue . In general the large diameter filters have about 6 times the dirt loading capacity as an equivalent length standard filter.

We supply each of the diameters in 10" or 20" lengths depending on the flowrate and the dirt loading.

Typically the cartridge flowrates are:

We offer the following types of sediment cartridges:

Spun The spun-bonded cartridges are the new generation for depth removal and combine high purity with consistent performance. In many applications wound filters can be replaced with spun-bonded.

Wound Wound catridges have been used for decades for sediment removal and are still available as a "tried and tested" product.

Pleated catridges made from durable polyester, used for sediment removal and can normally be cleaned and re-used.

Bag filters are available for the removal of sediment from water supplies in high-flow applications, requiring special bag filter housings.

Filter housings

We offer industry standard plastic housings in sizes to suit the above cartridges. So these include slimline housings which will fit standard cartridges (the exterior is slimmed down); standard housings taking standard cartridges; large diameter (LD) housings taking large diameter cartridges also known as "Big Blue". Various lengths are offered for these including 5", 10" and 20".

Note that the bag filters require specialist bag housings which are included on the filter housings section.

Accessories

Accessories for the filter housings include mounting brackets for fixing to the wall and spanners for opening the housings when changing the cartridge.

Filter kits

We offer complete filter kits for new installations which include the housing and the cartridge together with mounting bracket and spanner. Spare cartridges can be ordered at the same time if required.

Carbon filters

Carbon cartridges can be used with the standard or LD filter housings for removal of taste and odour, including chlorine in mains water.

Please contact us for details of our range of carbon filters.

Sterilisation

Bacteriological contamination in a water supply is usually treated using ultraviolet sterilisation. We offer a range of sterilisers for different flowrates and recommend that a 5 micron cartridge is fitted before the steriliser to remove any sediment. Treatment of minerals

We offer plant to treat the following water problems:
